Frequently Asked Questions

What is the online case resolution program?

The program is designed to assist you with resolving certain minor offenses through a web-based portal which is designed to prevent you from having to appear in court to discuss your case with the prosecutor.

What are the benefits of the online case resolution program?

One of the major benefits of the program is to allow you the option to discuss your case with the prosecutor without having to take time off from work or school to attend a court session and to allow a resolution of your case sooner than having to wait for a court appearance.

How does the online case resolution program differ from appearing in court?

There is no difference, other than your appearance isn’t required! The same criteria used in the courtroom will be used through the online program to render a decision on your case. The prosecutor will review your case file and any supporting information and/or documents you submit with the same integrity as demonstrated in court.

How does it work?

As with appearing in court, you have the option of discussing your case with the prosecutor to provide information that you believe would assist in having your case dismissed, charges reduced to lesser offenses, and/or fines reduced. With the online program, you enter this information and submit it electronically to the prosecutor. Upon the prosecutor’s review, you will receive a text message or email with the decision. You will then have the option of accepting or rejecting the decision. If you reject the decision, you must either appear in court on your originally scheduled court date or you can remit the fine payment on or before the court date.

Is there a charge for the online case resolution program?

Yes, a convenience fee of $9.00 is charged prior to submitting your case for review through the program.

Why does the court allow an online case resolution program?

This optional program grants you the convenience of resolving your case without spending time in the courtroom waiting.

What happens if my request for plea negotiation or dismissal is rejected?

You are required to either appear in court on your originally scheduled court date or remit payment of fines on or before the court date to prevent an additional charge of failure to appear and suspension of your driver’s license.
