Frequently Asked Questions

Traffic Citation:

What is Online Dispute Resolution?

It is a way to resolve your case online without having to go to court.

What are the benefits of Online Dispute Resolution?

You avoid the time and costs involved in appearing in court. You can also handle your case any time of the day, not just when the court is open.

How is it different online than in person?

It is not different. There is a real judge and prosecutor on the other side making decisions about your case based on the same criteria they would if you went to court in person. It just takes place through this website.

How does it work?

You submit a request to the prosecutor to review your case, including any information you want them to consider. The prosecutor will review your case and contact you. The prosecutor may send you a plea bargain offer for you to consider or may agree to dismiss your case. If you and the prosecutor agree on how to resolve your case, that agreement will be sent to the judge. If the judge approves the agreement an order will be entered. You can then pay any fines and costs you owe to complete your case. Everything is done online so you do not have to travel to the courthouse.

Is there a charge for Online Plea?

No.

Why does the court allow Online Case Review?

Many people have difficulty getting to court in person because of work, transportation or health issues.

How many days do I have to respond to my plea form once it is sent to me by the prosecutor?

Seven calendar days.

What happens if the prosecutor and I can't come to an agreement on the terms of my plea?

If you do not reach an agreement, you will have to attend your hearing .
