What is Online Case Review?

What are the benefits of Online Case Review?

Avoid traveling to City Hall, parking, and waiting in line. You can use Online Case Review 24/7. If you qualify for a reduced plea, you may avoid points on your license, insurance ramifications and/or DMV sanctions.

How is it different online than in court?

It's not. There is a real Traffic Prosecutor on the other side, making decisions about your case based on the same criteria as if you came in person. It just takes place through this website.

How does it work?

Enter your ticket number and date of birth. You will be prompted to create a user profile. Once you create your profile you will be able to see closed and open tickets that have been filed with the Court and the status of your case(s). You select the tickets you want to submit for review and upload a picture of your photo ID. Once a decision has been made, you will get a text and email update. The email will be sent from [btva@buffalony.gov] and the text will be sent from (

Is there a charge for Online Case Review?

Yes. This service is $4.25 per case that will be added to your fines when your case is resolved via Online Case Review. (Credit fees are extra if paying by card).

What happens if my request is rejected?

You will be scheduled for a pre-trial conference. Pre-trial conferences are offered in-person or virtually. If a resolution cannot be reached during your pre-trial conference, you will be scheduled for a court date. Traffic Court offers in-person and virtual hearings. *Failure to appear at trial may result in a default conviction taken against you.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

You’ll know once you create your user profile. If you do not qualify for a plea online, you will be notified what steps to take next.

What does it mean if I am ineligible?

The prosecutor reviews all matter on a case-by-case basis. No two cases are the same and we might need more information from you. Some charges require more investigation than others. You will be notified if we need more information or if you are required to appear for a pre-trial conference. Pre-trial conferences are offered in-person or virtually.

How long does it take?

Turnaround time varies on volume, but we will send an email or text as soon as we have an update. The email will be sent from [btva@buffalony.gov] and the text will be sent from (You can log into you user profile 24/7 to see and updates.

If I qualify for a reduced plea, when do I have to pay the fine?

All fines are due in 30 days. If after that time you are unable to pay, you must request a Payment Plan Arrangement from the Court to avoid a civil judgment being filed against you.
